Foundry United Methodist Church

FOUNDRY United Methodist Church is a ministry of Foothills UMC in La Mesa.

This focus on fruitful reproduction is what led Foothills leadership to plant a sponsored church in East Chula Vista. In the early 2000s, Chula Vista began development of a new 5,300-acre community. Foothills leadership watched this growth and began preparing for an influx of new members.Founded in 1958, Foothills is a 1,300-member congregation that places great emphasis on community service – both local and global. Lead pastor, Rev. John Farley describes Foothills as a “fertile patch of kingdom soil that continues to bear fruit.”

After prayer and research, a new – and more logical – course became evident. Rather than drawing South Bay’s newest residents to the La Mesa campus which was almost 20 miles away, Foothills would meet the new residents’ needs where they live and work. The result is FOUNDRY UMC – a faith-life community where service and celebration of God and each other, is being developed and nurtured.
